Tagua Seed Jewelry
Product of Ecuador & Colombia
Tagua, Vegetable Ivory, or Palm Nut are all names for a seed harvested from Ivory Palms indigenous to the forests of parts of South and Central America. The seed resembles Ivory when it is dried and can be carved into jewelry, buttons, and sculptural pieces. Unlike Ivory, Tagua is a RENEWABLE RESOURCE that brings hope to the plight of the rainforests and its inhabitants.
Tagua is a NATURAL part of the ecosystem, but it is also an invaluable source of income to the people living in these forests. In fact, it is more economically advantageous for the people to protect their natural ecosystems than to clear-cut the same land for other uses. Just as important, Tagua is replacing the use of Animal Ivory and Bone.
This tagua seed jewelry and the coordinating pieces are comprised of a variety of rainforest seeds. One can feel the unique natural energy these pieces radiate with their smooth texture and rich origin. Oh... and they're beautiful!
